SARLES BOATYARD & MARINA
SARLES BOATYARD & MARINA
Oldest Boatyard in Annapolis
Est. 1907
Sarles Boatyard & Marina, Annapolis’ oldest boatyard, has served the boating community for nearly 100 years by providing complete repairs, engine work & wooden boat restoration. We also boast the only marine railway in Annapolis, covered yacht storage, dockage & custom mahogany skiffs made to order.
In November 2005, Annapolis entrepreneur, Debra Smith, surprised the maritime industry when she purchased Sarles from Benjamin O. Sarles whose family owned & operated the business since 1907. Two months later, she hired manager Jim Kavle, an experienced marine professional, with extensive project management experience in both power & sail boats. He crewed aboard Dennis Conner’s Stars & Stripes and defeated the Australians on Kookaburra to win back the coveted America’s Cup Trophy in 1987.
Smith continues to make all the right moves as she builds a “Maritime Village” environment on the shores of Spa Creek by providing the best in on site services:
Since 1907, Sarles has provided unparalleled service to boaters in the Annapolis area, and we continue that today, over 100 years later. Not much has changed at Sarles in the past century, and we believe that’s for the better. Sarles was founded on a promise of professional service and a friendly community, and we continue to uphold that promise today.
